Dr. Bacher is a data scientist with many years experience in developing and supporting electronic health records (EHRs) as well as EHR data analysis. He has a PhD in Philosophy and Religion from the University of Nottinghams in the UK. This broad experience and training is an asset in working with teams from around the world on the OpenMRS open source EHR system. Dr. Bacher has had a lead role in the development and support of OpenMRS since starting at Brown and currently leads the work on adding leading edge health data interoperability with HL7 FHIR. He also has a lead role in data analysis for research studies in Dr. Fraser's lab including surveys and data quality studies in Rwanda, and the evaluation studies of the Ada symptom checker in the Rhode Island Hospital and urgent primary care.
